For help to view in Tamil...
Murasu Anjal FAQ

Tamil Text Not Visible at Ambalam

I am not able to view the tamil text in your website, even after installing the Murasu Anjal in my machine.  Can you let me know what do I have to do to get to see the Tamil text.

You must start Murasu Anjal and keep it running at all times for you to see Murasu Anjal fonts in your computer. You may click on the "minimise" button in Anjal to minimise it to the bottom tray. Always ensure that you start Murasu Anjal before you start your browser.  It's a good idea to place Murasu Anjal in your startup folder so that it gets started up everytime you start your computer.

Tamil Letter 'Ki' Replaced with 'Z'

I have installed Murasu 2.0.2. When I load Ambalam page, the Tamil letter 'Ki' does not come. Instead, I see one 'Z' with a crescent on top of it. What to do?

We have identified this problem to be occuring only in Internet Explorer 4.0 and not in the higher versions such as IE 5.0.  Note that you will not see this problem in Netscape Navigator. The same will be the case for Anjal 2000 also.

Help with Add Fonts Window of Win '95

I downloaded Anjal 2.0.2. When I tried to install the fonts in the Add Fonts window of Windows 95, I do not find any fonts coming up. What am I doing wrong? I am not able to read Ambalam. Please advise.

You do not have to add fonts in Anjal. Murasu Anjal will automatically install the fonts for you when you start Anjal. Installing Anjal alone is not enough. You must run it at the background whenever you wish to view Tamil fonts. Please also refer Question 1.

E-mails in Tamil without Attachment method

I presume E-mails can be sent in Tamil by first creating a file in Murasu Anjal Editor and then sending it as an attachment. Is there any other way?

The best way to send e-mails in Tamil is to type the message in Tamil directly on your mailer. The FREE version of Murasu Anjal will allow you to do this in the most commonly used mail readers - such as Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape Mailer and MS Internet Mail. For a detailed description check out the how-to document in http://www.murasu.com/howto.txt

Takes too long to download...

I tried to download your fonts but it takes lots of time. Is there an alternative or could you make the downloadable file size smaller?

The current version of Anjal is over 2MB in size. This is because the software comes with fonts that support various character sets, keyboard methods used around the world and a WYSIWYG text editor. We have been made to understand that the next version of Murasu Anjal will have a much smaller download size. We will keep the Ambalam site posted with the progress of this.

Necessity of switching to Anjal 2.0.2 version

I am using Anjal 1.8. Do I have to necessarily upgrade to Anjal 2.0.2 to see Ambalam? What do I miss if I do not upgrade?

If you are using Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 or earlier versions of Windows, you may use Anjal 1.8 to read Ambalam. If you are using Windows 98, you will need the latest version. Note however that version 1.x of Anjal is a 16 bit application and has many more limitations when it comes to supporting Tamil input with current mail readers and Web browsers. Also, the text editor included in Murasu Anjal
2.0.2 is far more superior with printing capabilities.

Usage of Anjal Fonts in MS Word

Is it possible to take the Murasu Anjal font to my MS Word and put it in the font index, so that I can use this when I operate any file in MS Word.

The FREE version of Murasu Anjal will allow you to cut and paste Tamil text into MS Word and other applications. To type in Tamil directly in MS Office applications, you will need a license key to upgrade your Anjal 2.0.2 to AnjalPro 2.0.2. You may want to try with the FREE 30 day trial license which you can obtain by sending an e-mail to license@murasu.com - please click on the "AnjalPro" button in Murasu Anjal for more details before you send the e-mail.

Possibility of Tamil Text in web based e-mail Accounts.

I use hotmail (or eudoramail, excite, yahoo, aol etc..) accounts for my e-mails. Can I read and send e-mail messages in Tamil ?

Yes, you can type and read Tamil directly in these e-mail accounts - as long as the font is set to an Anjal or compatible font. For details on how to set your browser for this, please read the how to document in http://www.murasu.com/howto.txt

Typing Comments in Tamil at Ambalam site.

Ambalam site has pages where I can type my comments in Tamil. How and where do I select my keyboard type?

The comments pages in Ambalam automatically sets the font to Tamil for you - so you need not make any modifications in your browser (as long as you use Netscape version 4 or above). You can select the keyboard in the Setup page of Murasu Anjal. You can select Anjal, Phonetic or Typewriter keyboard. Whatever your choice of keyboard is, make sure you set the "Encoding" to Anjal.
